Information You Provide
Search Entries
When a visitor enters a name, location, or similar search term into a partner search box, that query is sent to the third-party provider that operates the tool. Polk County Inmate Population does not keep its own log of those search terms.
Messages
If a visitor sends an email or other contact message, the information in that message may be kept long enough to read it, respond, and maintain ordinary business records. Messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, this site may receive basic technical data when a page loads. That information can include:
- IP address.
- Browser type and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on those pages.
- Referring website, when one is available.
- Date and time stamps.
Cookies
Cookies and similar technologies may be used to understand site traffic, measure page use, support advertising, and keep the site functioning properly. Browser settings can block or delete cookies, although some features may work differently after doing so.
How Information Is Used
- To keep pages available, secure, and reasonably fast.
- To send search requests to the correct partner service.
- To understand which Polk County jail, court, and custody pages are useful to visitors.
- To locate and repair technical problems.
- To support advertising that may be based on general visitor interests.
Links and Outside Websites
This site links to government pages, jail roster resources, Minnesota Court Records Online, Minnesota DOC, federal lookup tools, and third-party search providers. Once a visitor leaves this site, the outside site's privacy policy and terms control that visit.
Advertising partners may use their own cookies or tracking systems to measure ads or deliver interest-based ads across websites. Those systems are controlled by the advertising partner, not by Polk County Inmate Population.
When Information May Be Shared
Personal information is not sold as a customer list. It may be made available to limited parties that help operate the site or when the law requires disclosure.
- Search partners that process visitor queries.
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance.
- Advertising networks that serve or measure ads.
- Law enforcement, courts, or government bodies when a valid subpoena, court order, warrant, or other lawful demand requires it.
Security
Reasonable security practices are used to protect the information handled by this site. No website, email system, or internet-connected service can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so this notice does not promise breach-proof storage or transmission.
